10 Mamelodi Sundowns players who didn’t travel to Austria and why

Ten Mamelodi Sundowns players were left behind as the team jetted out to Austria where they’re holding a pre-season camp, preparing for 2024/25 season.

The Brazilians have already played two friendly matches there, losing 2-1 to SV Sandhausen and 1-0 to Dynamo Kyiv

THE LIST OF PLAYERS WHO DIDN’T TRAVEL

1 – Malebogo Modise

The talented left-back was on loan at Chippa United last season and returned to Chloorkop at the end of the season.

His future remains uncertain as he was not part of the travelling squad.

2 – Siyanda Msani

Msani, who’s also a left-back, spent the previous 12 months on loan at Cape Town Spurs who suffered relegation.

He returned to his parent club, Sundowns at the end of June. It’s still unclear where he’ll be playing his football next season.

3 – Sipho Mbule, Abdelmounaim Boutouil & Thembinkosi Lorch

The first team trio Mbule, Boutouil and Lorch couldn’t join their teammates as they’re still nursing injuries.

Boutouil has, at some point, been linked with exit. However, he still remains at the club.

6 – Luvuyo Phewa

Phewa was a regular at Spurs last season. He’s set for a move to AmaZulu FC on another loan spell that will run until the end of the season.

7 – Promise Mkhuma

Mkhuma was AmaTuks last season and has reportedly parted ways permanently with the club. Richards Bay FC are interested in his services.

8 – Thabang Sibanyoni

Sibanyoni, who was also on loan at AmaTuks last season, is said to be interested in remaining with the club to fight for his place next season.

However, Sundowns have loaned him out to Richards Bay for the next season.

9 – Etiosa Ighodaro

He returned from his third loan spell since joining Sundowns. The Nigerian striker expressed concern about being loaned out.

He’s heading to AmaZulu for the upcoming season. It’s uncertain whether it’s a permanent or a loan move.

10 – Nicholus Lukhubeni

The speedy right-back struggled for game time at Cape Town Spurs last season. In June, he returned to the Tshwane giants.

However, he’s now training with Marumo Gallants, hoping to secure a move with the newly-purchased club.
