The stage is set for a thrilling MTN8 final. Stellenbosch FC secured their spot with a commanding 3-1 aggregate win over a resilient Sekhukhune United, booking a much-anticipated rematch with Orlando Pirates.
Stellenbosch entered the semi-final second leg with a healthy 2-0 lead, and coach Steve Barker's decision to field a strong side reflected his determination to close out the tie decisively.
Sekhukhune’s early pressure hinted at a potential comeback. Just five minutes in, Keletso Makgalwa delivered a precise ball to Bradley Grobler, whose shot ricocheted off the crossbar, a sign of their attacking threat.
But Stellenbosch soon settled the nerves. In the 22nd minute, new signing Mthetheleli Mthiyane announced his arrival with a magnificent strike from distance, the ball flying into the net and giving Stellenbosch a crucial 1-0 lead on the night. This goal effectively crushed any real hope of a Sekhukhune turnaround.
Grobler had a second chance to get his side on the scoreboard just before the break, but his one-on-one effort was met by an alert Sage Stephens in the Stellenbosch goal.

As the clock ticked past the hour mark, both teams made changes, with Stellenbosch introducing Genino Palace and Sanele Barns, the latter celebrating his 50th appearance for the club.
SEKHUKHUNE GOAL NOT ENOUGH TO HOLD STELLENBOSCH
Sekhukhune’s persistence finally paid off in the 65th minute. A well-placed cross from Tsepo Matsimbi found Siphesihle Mkhize, who tucked the ball home to make the aggregate score 3-1.
While the goal gave their supporters a brief moment of hope, it was nothing more than a consolation. Stellenbosch professionally saw out the remaining minutes, holding on for a draw on the night to claim the aggregate win.
The victory sets up a mouth-watering final against Orlando Pirates, a chance for revenge after last season's 3-1 defeat to the Soweto giants.
