Both sides seek their first points at AFCON 2025 when they meet in Agadir on 28 December (13h30 local, 12h30 GMT).

It’s their first AFCON finals clash, though they’ve met seven times before—Gabon winning four, Mozambique two, with one draw. Their last encounters came in 2018 World Cup qualifying, each side winning 1-0 at home.

All seven past meetings have produced goals, with each team recording two wins since 1994.

Equatorial Guinea vs Sudan | 17:00 CAT

 Both teams seek their first points at AFCON 2025 after opening defeats. They meet at Stade Mohamed V, Casablanca, on 28 December (16h00 local, 15h00 GMT).

It’s their first AFCON finals clash, though they met twice in 2019 qualifiers, Equatorial Guinea winning 1-0 at home and 4-1 away. Neither side reached the finals that year.

Algeria vs Burkina Faso | 19:30 CAT

Both sides opened Group E with wins and now clash at Moulay Hassan Stadium on 28 December (16h00 local, 15h00 GMT) for a spot in the Round of 16.

This is their fourth AFCON meeting, all in the group stage. Algeria won 2-1 in 1996, Burkina Faso 2-1 in 1998, and their 2023 encounter ended 2-2. Overall, the teams have met 19 times, each winning six, with seven draws.

The last three matches between them, including World Cup qualifiers and AFCON 2023, finished level. Algeria last beat Burkina Faso in 2013, while both sides have consistently found the net in recent clashes.

Ivory Coast vs Cameroon | 22:00

Two recent AFCON champions renew a 55-year rivalry in Agadir on 28 December (21h00 local, 20h00 GMT) in a match that Bafana Bafana will watch with keen interest.

This will be their ninth AFCON meeting, with Cameroon winning five of the previous eight. Côte d’Ivoire’s only open‑play victory came in 2015 (1-0, Max Gradel), while their other two wins were via penalties in 1992 and 2006.

Cameroon have often dominated group clashes, beating Côte d’Ivoire en route to titles in 1984, 2000 and 2002. Overall, the sides have met 21 times, each winning eight, with five draws.

Their most recent encounters came in 2022 World Cup qualifying, where both won at home. Cameroon advanced to Qatar 2022, while Côte d’Ivoire missed out.
