AFCON: ‘Broos, f*ck off! A good dancer knows when to leave the stage; Mosimane should take Bafana to World Cup’

Published on by

Bafana Bafana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) ambition was cut-short on Sunday night as they fell 2-1 against Cameroon.

Hugo Broos’ men had come into the match riding on their initial favourable record against the Indomitable Lions, but the technical team’s tactics did not work as anticipated.

Have a look at the reactions from the fans as sampled by Afrik-Foot.

He wasn’t supposed to leave Zwane and Lorch!

Themba Zwane latest news, age, salary, stats and family news

But it won’t be fair to blame Hugo Broos alone. The players also need to take accountability. In a big, important game like that, you can’t afford to waste chances. The missed opportunities by Relebohile Mofokeng and Khuliso Mudau were unacceptable –  Deesty500

Hugo Broos has nothing to lose because he knows that even if he loses, he will still finish his term. He needs to be fired. When you become arrogant, these are the results you will get. We need Pitso Mosimane for the 2026 World Cup – Tino Mbele

We’ll now hear all sorts of experts regarding what Bafana Bafana should’ve done and how horrible Hugo Broos is. The reality of the matter is they have done well to consistently qualify & be counted amongst footballing nations. Also qualified for the World Cup. Hard luck, boys – Bapi Ntshangase

Coach Hugo Broos was not supposed to leave Themba Zwane and Thembinkosi Lorch. Too much pride, and the problem is that they don’t think for us as supporters –  Rivaldo Tom Chauke

Hugo Broos, f*ck off. The airport is less than 45 minutes from where you are. A wise man once said a good dancer knows when to leave the stage. The time is now, Hugo Broos. There’s no way you’ll take this Bafana Bafana to the World Cup.  We deserve a strong Technical Team.  A strong local technical team.  Rulani Mokwena should form part of such a technical team.  – Mbeki Tom

Broos must go!

Hugo Broos Bafana Bafana

Hugo Broos must go. We failed to win against a team that had very little preparation, yet we still lost. Our preparation games were against poor teams, and that is why we ended up losing a match like this. We have always questioned the friendly games we played, but because Madala was so obsessed with maintaining a winning record, we kept playing lower-ranked teams. Today, we were exposed to real quality.  If we want to compete in the World Cup, we must start facing strong opponents. Once again, players like Mbule must take this seriously. Why play with saggy shorts? Are you seriously chasing a game with saggy pants? That lack of focus is exactly why he tripped over himself when he had a clear opportunity to score – Sir Goat Edz

It hurts. Bafana had their moments, Cameroon took theirs — that’s football at this level. But the boys fought, they stayed in it, they tried. I hope we don’t lose faith in this team now. They are a good group, growing in real time. Losing together like this shapes character, sharpens belief, and raises eyebrows beyond AFCON — even towards FIFA 26. The coach will take lessons too: who to trust, when to be brave, when to let go. Hard luck, Bafana. Some nights aren’t meant to be wins, but they are meant to be foundations –  Mlamuli Jeff Dlamini

It is time to get serious, fix those defensive lapses, and build properly if we are going to make a real impact at the World Cup – Modisana Roboro

You disappoint me; Bryan Mbeumo should’ve been on his way to Old Trafford this night, assuming you do better – Ayomilekan

Despite missed chances, debatable substitutions, and a defensive approach, we controlled much of the game and showed great character, particularly in the closing 15 minutes – Msiya
