Al Ahly receive major boost ahead of Pirates clash

Al Ahly have received a major boost ahead of their crucial CAF Champions League clash against Orlando Pirates this weekend, with the return of star midfielder Emam Ashour.

The two historic clubs are set to renew their rivalry for the first time since their 2015 CAF Confederation Cup semifinal encounter.

Back then, Pirates eliminated Ahly with a 5-2 aggregate scoreline to advance to the final, where they were defeated by Etoile du Sahel.

Ashour had been suspended and fined by the club management following a dispute with team captain Mohamed El-Shennawy.

However, after apologizing to El-Shennawy and the rest of the team, he has resumed training and is now available for selection.

As Ahly prepare to travel to South Africa to face the Sea Robbers, the return of Ashour is a significant boost to their squad.

EMAM ASHOUR COULD BE AVAILABLE FOR SELECTION FOR PIRATES CLASH

“First, I want to express my full respect and appreciation to my teammates and everyone within the organization, from the highest to the lowest levels,” wrote Ashour on Instagram as translated from Arabic by KingFut.

“I apologize for any mistakes or for causing any frustration, and I accept my punishment, as it’s only fair. The difference between this situation and elsewhere is significant.”

“Unfortunately, some believe that fabricating news on social media and spreading lies can affect my relationship with Al Ahly fans, but this will not happen.

“I am proud to be a part of Al Ahly, and I am grateful for the unwavering support of our fans. They are the best in the world, and with God’s will, my dreams will come true at Al Ahly.”

The match between the Buccaneers and the Club of the Century will take place on Saturday, 7 December at Orlando Stadium with kickoff set for 3:00 PM.
