AmaZulu Snap Up Ex-Pirates & Sundowns striker

Veteran striker Thabiso Kutumela, who previously played for top clubs like Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, has been snapped up by AmaZulu.

The 32-year-old recently showcased his scoring ability on the international stage, bagging three of Bafana Bafana's six goals during the latest African Nations Championship.

Following his departure from Richards Bay at the close of the last season, Kutumela joins his new club on a free transfer, adding a proven goalscorer to the Usuthu lineup.

His move to KZN club comes despite being linked with move to Chippa United and unnamed North African clubs.

ZUNGU ‘PLEASED TO WELCOME KUTUMELA’

“We are very pleased to welcome Thabiso Kutumela into the club,” stated president Sandile Zungu.

“He is an accomplished striker. When he was at Maritzburg United, he competed alongside the likes of Bradley Grobler and Peter Shalulile for the league’s top goalscorer award.

“Both Shalulile and Grobler, are still doing just that for their respective teams, and we trust Kutumela will hit the ground running at Usuthu. We welcome him with warm hands.”

Meanwhile, speaking on his arrival, Kutumela said, “I am so happy that this move has finally come about. This was not the first time AmaZulu showed interest in me – I remember back when I was at Maritzburg United before joining Sundowns, they enquired about my services. It didn't happen then, but I'm glad it has materialised now.”

“My aim is to help the team win trophies and finish higher on the log than last season.

“In football, anything is possible, and every team has its objectives. Mine is to play my part in achieving them.”
