Bad news for Chiefs fans ahead of CAF CC game against AS Simba

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs are set for the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup's second preliminary round against AS Simba on Saturday, October 18.

The Glamour Boys made it to the phase after getting past Angolan outfit Kabuscorp in the initial round. The Democratic Republic of Congo side managed to get past Comoros' Djabal to set a date with the Soweto giants.

An aggregate win for either team will grant them passage to the group stage of the continental's second-tier competition.

Amakhosi come into the match as favourites, while their opponents are making debut in the CAF inter-club competition.

Fans will NOT watch the game live

Initially, the Glamour Boys had communicated that the game will be broadcast live on their YouTube platform as well as the SABC Sport, but that will not be the case anymore as communicated by the club.

“Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup clash between AS Simba and Kaizer Chiefs in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, will unfortunately not be broadcast live on TV,” they communicated through their official platform.

“The hosts were unable to secure broadcast rights with local broadcasters, which affects the availability of the feed. As the visiting team, Chiefs rely on the host broadcaster’s feed to relay the match to our partners in South Africa, as was done in the previous round in Angola.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience, but this matter is beyond our control. We will, however, endeavour to keep our supporters updated throughout the match via our official digital platforms – Facebook, X (Twitter) and Instagram,” they concluded.
