‘Bafana Bafana celebrating a draw, why? Terrible game so Chiefs fans feel like this!’

Bafana Bafana sustained their hope of making it out of Group A in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 1-1 draw against the Czech Republic on Thursday in Atlanta.

South Africa had lost their opener against Mexico 2-0 while their opponent also were undone 2-1 by South Korea. It explains why both nations needed a positive result in their second pool assignment.

Bafana Bafana remain at the bottom of the group with a point owing to their inferior goal difference. Mexico are at the summit with maximum points while South Korea come second with three.

Have a look at the reactions by Mzansi after the draw, ahead of the final fixture against South Korea.

The influence of Orlando Pirates attackers, Bafana Bafana played good football on Thursday –  Sandile Chiz

Start Evidence Makgopa against South Korea, he is the man for big games. Relebohile Mofokeng as a number 10. Otherwise, Hugo Broos sold the first game against Mexico – Mushe Mabhena

Much better 2nd half, Mofokeng changed the game for us, even though we subbed the wrong person, well played – Michael Khetsi

This game was proof that the only person who was afraid to play was the coach. The players were fearless. Last game just tell Hugo Broos to relax and let the boys handle South Korea – Mosima

Remind Broos Mokoena is suspended

Someone, please remind Hugo Broos and his technical team that Mokoena is suspended for the next match after picking up his second yellow card – Jabu Mathebula

Great draw and we’re still in this tournament. However, why do we always celebrate draws? We had more shots, more shots on target, more possession, and better pass rate, yet we are celebrating a draw being the better team, and Czechia and their coach are fuming. Is this our mentality that one point must be celebrated? Saw it in the qualifiers, both games we drew with Nigeria, and celebrated both draws like we won the AFCON. Hope next week against South Korea, we go for the killer blow – Matthew Chapman

Such a terrible play by Bafana Bafana. That’s a game they should’ve won easily. I’m very disappointed in Hugo and his team – Michael Makwela Snr

I’m sure South Korea have already changed their game plans 10 times after watching Bafana Bafana – Lebogo Mabula General

So being a Chiefs fan feels like this, we are even celebrating a draw – Minister Mpintshi
