SA-overseas based footballer Lebogang Phiri has offered a rare glimpse into his recent movements, acknowledging that his agent held talks with Kaizer Chiefs following his departure from EA Guingamp.
Phiri's decision to cut ties with the French Ligue 2 side was a relatively quick one, occurring just five months after his transfer from Caykur Rizespor, leading to speculation about his next destination.
He revealed that these important discussions with the Glamour Boys transpired before the club's departure for their pre-season training camp in the Netherlands, indicating a serious level of interest.
Phiri shared this insight with the media while attending the Engen Knockout Challenge at Marks Park in Emmarentia over the weekend.
In line with these ongoing discussions, Chiefs have already been proactive in strengthening their squad for the upcoming season, having already secured the services of six new players: Siphesihle Ndlovu, Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Ethan Chislett, and Flavio Silva.

Further exciting news for Amakhosi supporters comes from Jessica Motaung, the club's commercial and marketing director, who confirmed that additional acquisitions are still expected to be finalized before the transfer window period concludes on September 22, 2025.
‘WE HAD SMALL TALKS WITH THEM’
“We had small talks with them, but I think it was the time they were going for a pre-season training camp abroad [in the Netherlands],” said Phiri as quoted by FARPost.
“So, those [the negotiations] were stalled a bit. Hopefully, in the upcoming days, we will come up with something; if not, we will respect everybody who shows interest in me, whether it is locally or abroad.”
