Kaizer Chiefs' latest acquisition Thabiso Monyane has spoken out about his recent move to Naturena, describing it as a “breath of fresh air.”
The right-back's transfer from cross-town rivals Orlando Pirates was one of the most surprising twists of the current window, coming after his contract with the Buccaneers expired on June 30, 2024, concluding his five-season stay.
A product of the Pirates DStv Diski Challenge system, Monyane was promoted to the senior team in 2019.
During his time at Pirates, the 25-year-old made 95 appearances, contributing four goals and three assists, and was instrumental in the club's domestic success, including an impressive run of three consecutive MTN8 titles under Jose Riveiro.
Unfortunately, his last season was heavily impacted by a long-term injury, which limited his involvement and saw Riveiro favour other options at right-back.
Monyane has enthusiastically reported a warm welcome from everyone at his new club, signaling a promising fresh start.

‘I FEEL SO OPTIMISTIC’
“I have been received well by the technical team, the players and the staff, arriving from the other side of Soweto,” the pacey wing-back said.
“It has been a breath of fresh air, and I am embracing a new culture. I feel that there has been massive progression since we played our first game against Vitesse last Tuesday. Our time in the Netherlands, facing really good opponents, has been a top experience.
“So I feel optimistic. We are Kaizer Chiefs, a club with a rich history. We have seen in Holland how big the club is, with so many fans coming out to support us.
“We don’t want to disappoint them. If Kaizer Chiefs do well, the country does well. We want to put a smile on our supporters’ faces.”
