South Africa’s national football team, Bafana Bafana, will once again don the iconic three stripes as Adidas returns as the official technical partner, following a multi-year agreement with the South African Football Association (SAFA).
The deal, confirmed by industry insider Cash n' Sport, marks a significant shift in the team’s commercial and branding strategy ahead of the AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco.
“Adidas and SAFA have agreed a deal that sees the three stripe brand returning as the technical partner on a three-year deal with an option to renew for a further two years,” said Cash n' Sport.
This partnership rekindles a historic relationship between Adidas and South African football, one that dates back to some of Bafana Bafana’s most iconic moments, including their 1996 AFCON triumph.
Macron and LeCoq Sportif in the Mix
The race to become Bafana’s next kit supplier was competitive. Macron, the Italian sportswear brand, was reportedly confident at one stage of securing the deal.
“Macron was indeed in the running and at one point, were very confident,” Cash n' Sport revealed.
However, LeCoq Sportif, the current technical partner, will continue to supply kits through the AFCON 2025 tournament, as their existing agreement includes coverage for the continental showpiece.
