‘Bafana Bafana will get seven or eight from Mexico at World Cup! Foster get back to Motsepe Foundation; boys going for vacation’

Bafana Bafana played to a goalless draw with minnows Nicaragua in an international friendly game played on Friday at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

Coach Hugo Broos was using the game to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Interestingly, South Africa and Mexico will play the opening game of the global tournament on June 11; South Korea and the Czech Republic are the other two teams in Group A.

A majority of the country’s football fans were unhappy with the result. Have a look at what they said as sampled by Afrik-Foot.

Lyle Foster must get back to the Motsepe Foundation in the Premier Soccer League – Young Bo

Jokes aside, we are going to get seven or eight from Mexico. I can’t wait to see Bafana Bafana getting embarrassed in the World Cup – Boii Zimu

It’s clear. No Bafana Bafana without Mamelodi Sundowns domination. Some won the league with own goals – Lukase

If we are playing a draw at home against 131th ranked plumbers. Imagine what Mexico will do – Rofhiwa Netshikhudini

Nicaragua came all the way from Central America to park the bus in a friendly game. Probably the worst opponent we’ve ever had – Syfo Nongcula

Useless Mofokeng?

But at the World Cup, teams won’t park the bus. We will do well. Panama and Nicaragua came here to defend – Phuti Mokgehle

South Africans, why do we have negative energy? We criticize too much – Lindz Petunia

Mofokeng is one of the most useless players to ever play for Bafana Bafana. Broos should’ve taken Patrick Maswanganyi over him – Rele Glo

Boys are taking a vacation to Mexico and the USA, and come back. You win these types of games to build confidence – Thembinkosi Khoza

The problem is the attacking players; they can’t pass the ball fast enough, and they second-guess every final pass. People are on Mofokeng’s case, but do they realise how many good balls and combinations he provides? The other players can play with him and don’t give him the ball – Sisiso
