Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi says Amakhosi have just managed to show 20% of their full potential.

The Tunisian is making his debut in South African football and has so far managed to help the Glamour Boys secure back-to-back Premier Soccer League wins.

Amakhosi started the 2024/25 PSL season with a 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants before beating AmaZulu 3-1.

‘I am not happy' – Nabi says despite win over Usuthu

Despite the improved performance on Wednesday, Nabi explained why he was not delighted with the result.

“Honestly, I am not happy, I am not happy. I am at 20% of what I imagine, Kaizer Chiefs,” the former AS FAR Rabat tactician stated.

“If you win, you are happy, but for myself, as a coach, I have another responsibility. I have another eye, another thing. Inside, I’m not happy about some things. In other things, we progress, and it’s normal. But we are sure we will come back. I don’t know what time, but we will come back.

“I want to propose protagonist football, [which is] lovely football for Kaizer Chiefs, but not for now.”

Has Nabi hinted Chiefs can replace Sundowns?

The Tunisian is convinced the Soweto giants have what it takes to play a beautiful game and at the same time deliver.

“I think a club like Kaizer Chiefs with a big DNA needs beautiful football with results. If you propose good football with results, the fans will come. I need them. I need the fans. All the players need the fans.

“In a bad moment and a good moment, I need them. But I promise the fans that step by step, we will build the team. We propose very beautiful football.”

He went on to laud Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of a crucial league game on Saturday, “All of Africa and myself, we respect Mamelodi Sundowns. It’s a great team, and I congratulate the coach on the place they reached in Africa,” Nabi concluded.

The game will be played at the FNB Stadium from 3 PM.
