The home screen on both the mobile site and the iOS PWA is similar. However, the lack of a URL bar in the latter means it fills the screen slightly more, so icons appear larger.

Big buttons at the top of the home page and the bottom navbar make navigation easy in both versions, and they also provide quick sports picks. The “Quick Links” on the mobile side menu look like the desktop site just shrunk down. These links are also a bit too small for fingers, and we had to tap more than once to open them.

We found the desktop home display busier, with three full columns across larger computer monitors. It shows quick links, live matches, and bet slips all at once. While it isn’t exactly a negative, we preferred the more focused display on both the mobile site and PWA, as they make navigation easier.

For these reasons, we gave all 3 a 4/5 rating.

Push Notifications

The mobile website, PWA and the desktop portal do not send push notifications. Future app releases may introduce notification alerts, but we can’t confirm this at the time of writing.

Performance

The desktop site had no speed problems during our testing. Pages, sports odds, and casino games loaded in 5 seconds on normal home computer connections, earning it a 4.5/5 rating.

The mobile site on Chrome was prone to slowing down while navigating, with pages generally taking 5-10 seconds to load. Both pre-match and live betting for PSL, EPL and UEFA Champions League fixtures performed well on mobile. The horse racing streams we watched for Fairview in Port Elizabeth didn’t buffer.

However, we would sometimes encounter freezing when entering and exiting the casino or loading games, which we noted in our BetJets review. These performance hiccups drop the mobile score to 3.8/5 stars.

The iOS PWA gets a perfect 5/5 score for its flawless performance throughout our tests. The casino, which the Chrome browser struggled with, loaded instantly. Popular games like Gates of Olympus Super Scatter and Aviator opened in 3-5 seconds, beating even the desktop.

Minimum Space Required

Using the website on mobile or desktop requires zero megabytes of internal storage space, although desktop isn’t suitable for on-the-go betting.

The iOS PWA takes only 29KB, which is significantly smaller than some other PWAs we’ve reviewed, like the Bet.co.za app. So, this makes the BetJets app ideal for mobile bettors with limited storage space.

While there is no true native app, we wanted to highlight 4 key features that make the mobile experience worth it.

Partial Cash Out Slider

The partial cash out lets you choose between 10% and 90% of your total winnings and let the rest settle. This gives you far more control over your active sports tickets than the Playbet app, which has a very limited cashout feature. This feature felt more comfortable to use on mobile than on desktop since the slider is big enough for thumbs.

Should You Get The BetJets App?

Yes, if you have an iOS device, since the PWA works exactly like an app and doesn’t require heavy downloads. Android users in South Africa must rely on a shortcut to the mobile site until the official BetJets APK is released.

Overall, BetJets mobile works well for everyday sports betting, but performs better for Apple users. The iOS PWA loads everything from the sportsbook to horse racing streams and the casino in 5 seconds or less.
