Kaizer Chiefs outcast Bongani Sam is close to ending his long wait for a new club after a PSL side reportedly reached an agreement to sign him.
Sam has been without a club since being released by Chiefs at the end of last season, following a nightmare spell at Naturena.
The defender signed for Chiefs from Orlando Pirates before the start of the 2024-25 season but did not play a single minute the entire campaign, when the others who he joined with like Miguel Inacio, Rushwin Dortley, Fiacre Ntwari, Bradley Cross and Gaston Sirino became key members of the team.

That left questions over what led to the non-involvement of the left-back, who can also play in central defence, and it was claimed that former coach Nasreddine Nabi did not trust him and hence the decision to leave him on the periphery.
His departure from Chiefs would soon be dismissed by his agent Lance Davids but the Glamour Boys later confirmed his exit and now three months since leaving Amakhosi, he seems to have landed a new home.
According to SABC, Sam is set to sign for Chippa United as a free agent as he looks to begin a new chapter in his troubled career that saw him struggle for minutes at Pirates before his tough time at Chiefs.
What does the future hold for the defender?
“Bongani Sam set to go back to Eastern Cape, having left Kaizer Chiefs as a free agent, tried his luck at TS Galaxy and that did not materialise and now about to join Chippa United,” said SABC presenter Mazola Molefe on Soccerzone.
Sam started his career at Highlands Park in 2017 and has also played for Bloemfontein Celtic and Moroka Swallows, making 88 career appearances, scoring five goals and providing four assists.
The 29-year-old has been training with Chippa United since October and the Gqeberha-based club appear to have been convinced by what they have seen.
