Kaizer Chiefs defender Bradley Cross has revealed how he's transformed supporter criticism into a powerful tool for self-improvement.
The 24-year-old left-back, who was a frequent target of online criticism last season, credits the feedback with helping him elevate his game.
During the previous season, Cross's performances in his 23 appearances were inconsistent, which drew the ire of some fans on social media as the team faced a period of fluctuating results.
However, Cross has started the new 2025/26 PSL season in excellent form, playing a pivotal role in the Soweto giants' impressive start. He has been instrumental in helping the team secure two consecutive clean sheets and two wins.
Amakhosi first defeated Stellenbosch FC 2-0 on the road before earning a 1-0 victory against Polokwane City FC at home.

By acknowledging that playing for a major club like Chiefs comes with criticism, Cross has shown a mature approach, emphasizing that the experience has ultimately enhanced his performance and helped him contribute to the team’s early success this season.
CROSS – ‘CRITICISM IS NORMAL’
“Well, it’s normal to receive constructive criticism. I think it helps me as a player to improve,” said Cross.
“I believe it helps the team grow and move forward, whether I make mistakes or not. It is also good to have healthy competition in that position [left-back].”
Meanwhile, on the competition he has in the left-back position, he said, “Firstly, I think having competition is beneficial because it helps you improve and prevents complacency.”
“Having the guys [Mako and Shinga] in the same position is good for squad depth.”
