Broos refuse to do Sundowns a favour

South Africa and Uganda have already qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Afcon, from Group K.

Currently, Bafana Bafana lead the race with 11 points, one more than second-placed Uganda who will play Congo.

The Hugo Broos-led team will finish as Group K winners if they better the results posted by Cranes against the Red Devils. The Bright Stars are not expected to get a point in Cape Town, if the quality within Bafana squad is anything to consider.

It explains why Mamelosi Sundowns fans had requested Broos to consider resting their players ahead of the Carling Knockout final on Saturday against Magesi. The 72-year-old Belgian insists no player will be favoured.

They are Bafana players

“Sundowns players are till tomorrow after the game players of Bafana Bafana and they stay players of Bafana Bafana,” he told the media.

The former Cameroon tactician further insisted he is not in the mood to drop points as he wants to finish ahead of Uganda.

“I think you are looking to two very happy men after a qualifying game against Uganda last Friday.

“At the other end, you are also looking at two men who are still not satisfied – not satisfied because we want to win the game of tomorrow. This is not a friendly game for us. It’s an important game because we want to be first in the group, and we also want to show something, if my information is right to the crowd who will be tomorrow in the stadium.

“So, we got two amazing evenings in Bloemfontein and in PE with a crowd in the stadium and with a nice win. So, we will do that again tomorrow here in Cape Town,” Broos added.

“That means that we are still motivated for the game of tomorrow, and again, it’s very important for us that we can finalise those qualifiers as first in the group. It should be the cherry on the top, like people say.”

The game will be played from 18.00hrs SAT.
