Like last season, Bruce Bvuma did not start the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League season as Kaizer Chiefs‘ first-choice goalkeeper.
Rwanda international custodian Fiacre Ntwari was brought on board to help stabilize the otherwise shaky department. The Amavubi star struggled to settle, and after his injury during the international assignment, Brandon Petersen got his chance.
As fate would have it, the latter also sustained an injury paving the way for Bvuma. The 29-year-old has since started the last three PSL games and kept one clean sheet. He might be starting on Wednesday night against Stelelnbosch at the FNB Stadium.
The South African has now revealed why he was confident of getting an opportunity to start matches again for the Glamour Boys.
I had to be patient
“The pressure has always been there, whether we are winning or losing. I knew it before coming to this team. I knew that there’s pressure, every player knows that there’s always pressure at Chiefs,” he told the media.
“This is something that we have to find a way of handling and of course, I am happy that I am playing again. I had to be patient, I had to work hard and wait for my opportunity to come.
“Obviously it doesn’t make things easier when we are losing and conceding. But it’s part of the game, but that doesn't pressure me. Because I’ve been here, I know how things work so I just have to keep on working hard.”
After losing by a solitary goal against Cape Town City on Sunday, Chiefs hope to bounce back on Wednesday against Stellies.
