The highly rated midfielder has sealed a transfer to Portugal

Cape Town City have confirmed the departure of midfielder Luphumlo Sifumba to Portuguese club FC Vizela.

Sifumba has been one of the most outstanding young talents in the South African top flight and has now secured a dream move to Europe after FC Vizela agreed a loan deal with Cape Town City, which has an option of making the move permanent.

It means the 19-year-old has a chance to impress in Portugal this season and seal a permanent transfer to continue his football development in Europe.

What is Sifumba bringing to Vizela?

Sifumba is a highly rated central midfielder who has made 14 appearances for Cape Town City while providing one assist.

He made 12 appearances in total last season, 11 in the PSL, most of them as a second half substitute.

FC Vizela plays in Liga Portugal 2, the Portuguese second tier, and are currently third on the standings on six points from five games, after winning two and losing three matches.

The star had attracted interest from Europe earlier

They recorded their second win of the season on Sunday when they beat Leixoes 1-0.

Sifumba had attracted interest from clubs in Serbia and Austria before the move to Portugal.

TSC Backa Topola and Red Bull Salzburg were reported to have been keeping tabs on him in January.
