Cardoso addresses Williams absence against Marumo Gallants

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has explained why their first-choice goalkeeper Ronwen Williams was absent against Marumo Gallants.

Masandawana won the match 3-1 over Bahlabane Ba Ntwa in the Betway Premiership at Dr. Petrus Molemela.

However, Onyango didn’t finish the match as he was sent off in the 90th minute after receiving a second yellow card.

Now, Cardoso, who hopes that Williams will be back in the next game, explained that the Bafana Bafana captain had suffered a minor injury ahead of Gallants clash.

WHY WILLIAMS WAS NO WHERE TO BE SEEN AGAINST GALLANTS

“I think the [red cards] affect [us] always because you never know what happens in the next game. So, it always affect [us],” said Cardoso.

“Ronwen [Williams] is our first goalkeeper and Dennis has been on the [good] level, because today again I remember he [made] a wonderful save from a header that could have been very, very dangerous.

“So, he has been on the [good] level. But I believe that Ronwen will have recovered from a small problem that he had today and he will be able to go on goal.

“Otherwise we have Jody [February], we have Sanele [Tshabalala], we have Reyaad Pieterse. So, for sure someone will stand up if we need some goalkeeper.”
