‘Celebrate 55 years with new players! Save Chiefs the embarrassment’

The most decorated Premier Soccer League outfit Kaizer Chiefs are celebrating their 55th birthday this week.

Founder Kaizer Motaung Senior conceded of late things have not been going well, but he insisted soon everything will fall in place. “As we move forward into the next phase of our journey, our commitment to excellence continues to drive us forward. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that Kaizer Chiefs remains a Club that our supporters are proud of; a Club that upholds the traditions of our founding fathers and embraces the modern landscape of football,” he said during the celebrations.

“Together, we shall strive for more victories, more memories, and an even greater legacy. Here’s to the next 55 years of Amakhosi! Together, let’s continue to build on our rich history and foster the spirit of unity, determination, and excellence that defines who we are as Kaizer Chiefs.”

However, it seems the fans are hurting after the recent run, considering the fact that the team has gone nine seasons without silverware. Have a look at what they said ahead of the PSL outing against Stellenbosch at the FNB Stadium.

Kaizer Chiefs officials enjoying themselves while fans are in pain and fighting each other –  Andrew Suffocate Mohale

I’ve been a Chiefs fan since 1988; I'm disheartened by the current state of affairs. The new leadership has failed to inspire, instead bringing shame to our institution. They're undermining the legacy built over the years, which is a disservice to pioneers like the late Clarence Mlokoti – Thando Lwana

We are good at celebrations but don't mind losing games

Apart from 55 years of existence, we as supporters don't have much to celebrate thanks to poor results. The team is always promising but fails to live up to our expectations as a result we have become a laughing stock – Paul Zwane

Coach Nabi must be aware that we are not happy about his progress. So far he is not delivering as expected, this is way below the expected standard. The lack of direction in his display causes a lack of faith from us – Kamva Mzikayise Sishuba

The current leadership of the mighty Chiefs is killing this legacy and we are celebrating 55 years with a heavy heart – Shei Shabalala
