Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have had difficulty delivering in the 2024/25 season across all competitions.
To date, they have played nine Premier Soccer League matches, managing to collect three wins, as many draws, and three losses as well. Surprisingly, they have not yet kept a clean sheet in the league.
Nasreddine Nabi-led team was eliminated from the Carling Knockout in the quarter-final stage. It was an opportunity for them to try and end their nine-season trophy drought but things did not go as anticipated.
With the new year around the corner, former club's defender Mokete Tsotetsi has advised the Glamour Boys on how to improve and deliver consistently.
Fix the leaking defense!
“Going into 2025, I think they need to look at fixing things at the back, from the combination and understanding at the back,” he told SNL24.
“That's their biggest challenge since the season started. Going forward, they are marvelous, so it's about working on the understanding at the back so that they can solidify things and compliment the attack. That's the biggest thing they can look at.
“Remember, the goalkeeper compliments the defence and the defence compliments the goalkeeper. So, I think they still need to find that number one. I still believe [Bruce] Bvuma can still be the number one at the club. We've seen his performances and, if given a chance, he can be the number one and he can compliment the defence.”
The Glamour Boys will be in action on Sunday against Chippa United in the Premier Soccer League fixture at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
