Kaizer Chiefs faithful are hopeful Nasreddine Nabi will help them end their nine-season trophy drought.
In the Premier League, the Glamour Boys are struggling for consistency; after back-to-back wins against Marumo Gallants and Marumo Gallants respectively, Amakhosi fell 2-1 against the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
They followed it up with another 1-0 defeat against SuperSport United before battling from two goals down to share the spoils with Magesi FC.
However, the Soweto Giants are in the Carling Knockout quarter-final after a 4-0 win over SuperSport United in the Round of 16.
How will winning the Carling Knockout help Chiefs?
On Saturday, the Glamour Boys host Sundowns in the FNB Stadium Stadium hoping to get a positive outcome and advance to the semi-final.
Former club's defender Mokete Tsotetsi has explained how that win might impact Amakhosi in the race for the PSL title.
“[Chiefs] have only dropped a few points and the league is a marathon. They still have a chance and they are in the race,” he told SNL24.
“They can recover because some of the teams will still drop points and winning a tournament like the Carling Knockout will be a good boost. I believe they have been playing good football and we need to give them credit.
“When they go forward, you can see their intentions. At times, they miss chances and those are good signs. If you are missing chances that means you are creating them. But I think they need to have that connection at the back so that they can be solid.
“Winning silverware in the cabinet will give them a big boost in the league and it will be good for the coach.”
Chiefs have not beaten Masandawana since April 2021.
