Chiefs boost? Tau put on sale by Al Ahly

Bafana Bafana international Percy Tau has not enjoyed a good relationship with Al Ahly manager Marcel Kohler.

The Swiss had initially questioned the 30-year-old’s attitude when excluded from the matchday squad or started from the bench. It got worse to a point that Kohler asked the Red Devils to let the South African leave before the ongoing 2024/25 campaign started.

Kaizer Chiefs, Rulani Mokwena’s Wydad Athletic Club, and some teams from the Middle East had been linked to the former Mamelodi Sundowns star. However, it seemed the issue between the player had been resolved.

Nevertheless, Tau has been reduced to a mere part-time player despite his undoubted quality. The recent game was against Orlando Pirates in the Caf Champions League at the Orlando Stadium where he was introduced in the 63rd minute as the teams played to a goalless draw.

Kohler is planning life at the club without Tau and the other four players who he has deemed surplus to requirements.

According to the Egypt Telegraph, Karim Nedved, Youssef Aymen, Reda Selim, and Percy Tau have been put on sale. The publication reported Kohler feels Aymen is not meeting all the qualities he needs from a player.

Nedved has been struggling for fitness which has limited him to just one competitive appearance in the ongoing campaign.

Tau has been doing well in Egypt and has won 11 major trophies with the club. This season, he has played 11 matches across all competitions and managed two goals in the process.
