Chiefs coach Nabi share worrying Morris & Lilepo news, but Castillo is back!

On Wednesday, Kaizer Chiefs will be chasing their third win in a row – across all competitions, when they host Cape Town City in the Premier Soccer League fixture to be staged at the FNB Stadium.

They bounced back from the 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns with a victory over Magesi FC by that margin. On Saturday, the Glamour Boys sealed their place in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final with a 3-1 win against Stellenbosch.

Prior to the match, coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed contrasting news about the availability of some key players. Combative midfielder Edson Castillo, has been out of action since October when he fractured his fibula during Chiefs' 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United.

Other players who have been nursing injuries include Wandile Duba with the latest ones being Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Tashreeq Morris. It is not clear whether Glody Lilepo will be fit for the game against the Citizens.

“Castillo is back with the team, probably not 100% fit because he’s been away for a couple of months,” Nabi said ahead of the Wednesday game.

“Duba had his first training with the squad last week. Zwane is 100% out for the game, Morris is probably gonna need three more weeks to come back, out for this game too, Happy [Mashiane] is also out. We will be assessing in these next two days, [Rushwin] Dortley where he is at. And Lilepo has had some discomfort and will be looking at him [on Monday].

“Ox [Mthethwa] can probably do some minutes but he’s not fully fit,” Nabi concluded.

The last meeting ended 1-0 in favour of Cape Town City.
