Bafana Bafana international Siyabonga Ngezana is now dreaming about playing with and against the best in the world.

The center-back joined Romanian outfit FCSB from Kaizer Chiefs at the start of the 2023/24 season.

Initially, the 27-year-old struggled to settle in Europe, having been born and raised in Mzansi. His performances were inconsistent, and at some point, he was even criticised by club owner George Becali.

Ngezana showed his mental strength by working harder; his crucial contributions saw him help the team win the Superliga for the first time in nine years as well as the Super Cup. Recently, he was crowned the Defender of the Year by Fanatik and Best Foreign player.

Ngezana discusses his future

There have been rumours that some top teams are targeting the defender, hoping to get his services, but Ngezana has his specifics.

“I made sacrifices to become the best. Leaving my family at home was not an easy decision to make. I went through a tough time at first,” he said as quoted by Digi Sport.

It’s a big achievement for me just to come here and play in Europe and win something. It means a lot, but I can’t say it’s enough.

“I still have dreams to achieve. I want to play in Germany, France, England, and Spain,” he concluded.

Ngezana and FCSB made it for the 2024/25 Uefa Champions League but were relegated to the Europa League. The Romanian outfit have been doing well in Europe's elite second-tier League Phase hoping to seal their place in the knockout stage.
