Kaizer Chiefs justify Sirino signing as Sam is finally unveiled

Amakhosi have landed the South American in their bid to have a better squad ahead of the new campaign.

On Saturday August 3, Kaizer Chiefs confirmed the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Gaston Sirino on a two-year deal.

The 33-year-old has been a free agent after being released by the Premier Soccer League champions after initially falling out with former coach Rhulani Mokwena. 

Amakhosi were defeated 4-0 by Yanga SC in their most recent pre-season game, and new coach Nasreddine Nabi confirmed some new players are on the way, and the midfielder has now been brought on board to bolster the squad.

Why did the Glamour Boys go for Sirino?

The Soweto giants Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. insists Sirino was needed to bring much-needed stability to the team which is filled by youngsters.

“We have decided to add some experience to our team by bringing in Sirino,” the administrator said as quoted by the club's media team.

“We know his quality and believe he will help us this coming season and looking forward to him sharing his experience with our younger players. Gaston’s ability to unlock a tight defence with his guile and craft will add an extra dimension to the team’s creativity and his attributes fit with our idea of how we want to play.

Amakhosi confirm Sam arrival

After the unveiling of Ruswin Dortley and Fiacre Ntwari, Chiefs have also unveiled former Orlando Pirates defender Bongani Sam.

The 26-year-old signed a three-year deal with the the club, “We are really excited to have Bongani Sam in our fold,” Motaung Jr. stated.

“Given his age, he has amassed quite a bit of experience having played for several teams in the Premiership since he started his top-flight career seven years ago. 

“We do wish him well and we know he will fit in as part of the Kaizer Chiefs Family.”

Both players are expected to be available when Chiefs start their Premier Soccer League campaign on August 14 against Marumo Gallants.
