Kaizer Chiefs land kind draw for CAF Confederation Cup

Kaizer Chiefs have learnt the team they will face in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Chiefs were exempted from the first preliminary round which will kick off on September 3 but will get a tricky opponent in the second round.

Following the draw conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday, the Glamour Boys will either play a Zambian or Madagascan side.

Who will Kaizer Chiefs face in CAF CC?

Zambian side Red Arrows and FC Rouge from Madagascar will face off in the first preliminary round and whoever emerges victorious from the two-legged tie will take on Amakhosi in the second preliminary round.

Chiefs can therefore prepare for either of the two teams as they look to make it to the group stage for a second straight season.

The South African giants already have recent experience of facing a Zambian side after taking on Zesco United in their group last season, winning 1-0 away and then the same result at home in January and February this year.

Durban City prelim round opponents

Chiefs have ambitions of winning the title this season but will need to improve after getting 10 points but still missing out on a ticket to the quarter-final in 2025-26.

Meanwhile, Nedbank Cup winners Durban City will take on Rukinzo from Burundi in the first preliminary round.
