Chiefs make decision on Tashreeq Morris after underwhelming spell

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly decided on the future of striker Tashreeq Morris who joined the club in the January transfer window.

Morris joined Chiefs in the midseason transfer window from SuperSport United and was set to share the goalscoring burden with Ranga Chivaviro, Ashely Du Preez and Wandile Duba as Chiefs sought for a strong second half of the season.

However, the 31-year-old has been disappointing as he failed to score in any of the nine matches that he played with coach Nasreddine Nabi dropping him in recent games after failing to get a tune out of him.

For a player who arrived with much promise, it has been a poor spell for Morris, who had scored two goals in nine league matches for SuperSport, having joined Matsatsantsa as a free agent last October.

What do Chiefs want to do with Morris?

Now, Chiefs are ready to cut their losses as the club is exploring loan deals for him to create room for a new striker that the club wants to bring in to solve their goal scoring problems.

“There was apparently a meeting believed to be held just before the final game of the season where both management and the technical team are believed to have agreed that it would be a great idea to loan Morris out next season. So, he is set for a loan at the start of next season,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

“As much as they are looking at loaning him out, the club's first priority is to find a striker and sign that player first. From how things are now, they have targeted several strikers but no deal has been reached with anyone yet and that's what could probably delay Morris' loan move. But they are working on that,” a second source told the outlet.

Chiefs are in the market for attacking reinforcements after their strikers disappointed last season with Duba managing four league goals, Chivaviro three and two for Du Preez despite the team creating many chances.
