Nigeria's Super Eagles' hope of playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup was ended on Sunday night by the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In the play-offs played in Morocco, Nigeria got past Gabon and the Leoprads defeated Cameroon to make the final. DRC defied the odds to advance; they drew 1-1 with their opponents in both regulation and extra time before winning 4-3 in the penalty shootout.

Bafana Bafana supporters enjoyed the loss owing to the rivalry between the two nations.
