Chiefs & Pirates Transfer News: How much are Soweto giants willing to pay for Appollis?

Published on by

Bafana Bafana and Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis has been heavily linked with a move to Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

It was the latter who missed out on the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window. However, the Sea Robbers have stepped up their chase for the Rise and Shine attacker who is willing to get a new challenge after his exploits with current team.

In the ongoing 2024/25 season, Appollis has not had a good start at Polokwane, managing just a goal in the 14 outings across all competitions. Nevertheless, he has been a key player for Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana.

Initially, the Glamour Boys were ready to part with R10 million for the services of Appollis, but Polokwane felt it was low. The Sea Robbers saw an opportunity and topped R5 million plus a player.

“The big difference is about R5 million and there were internal plans to offer Polokwane City a player on top of the R15 million,” SNL24 reported.

“It’s like a cat fight you know how it is. Chiefs were the first ones to show interest in Appollis but then Pirates came in and now Chiefs want to make a better offer.”

Polokwane have not responded to the issue. Chiefs are desperate to strengthen their attack after recent inconsistencies. They are hoping to rebuild the team for future assignments.

Pirates are challenging for the Premier Soccer League and the Caf Champions League, explaining why they want quality depth.
