Kaizer Chiefs are set for a tricky Premier Soccer League outing against Chippa United on Wednesday.

The Glamour Boys are hoping to bounce back from a two-match winless run – both in the CAF Confederation Cup, with the latest one coming at home on Saturday against Zamalek SC. The fixture, staged at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokane, ended 1-1.

The Chilli Boys are desperate for maximum points in their bid to get off the bottom of the table, while Amakhosi want to keep close to leaders Orlando Pirates.

Against the Egyptian outfit, Gaston Sirino and Bradley Cross were forced off with injuries. Mfundo Vilakazi replaced the former while ex-Orlando Pirates man Paseka Mako came in for the latter.

The Soweto giants are not certain about the length the duo will spend on the sidelines.

“Chiefs’ technical team will work closely with the medical staff to assess the extent of injuries to Gaston Sirino and Bradley Cross, who were both forced off within the opening 15 minutes of the Zamalek match,” the club said in a statement.”

Solomons wary of Chippa United threat

Dillan Solomons, who helped Amakhosi get a draw against Zamalek on Saturday, is anticipating a difficult outing.

“I’m looking forward to the Chippa game. Obviously, coming off a fair result in the CAF Confederation Cup, we want to refocus on the league,” he aid as quoted by the club’s media team.

“We know what type of team Chippa is, and it won’t be an easy game away from home, but our intention is to pick up maximum points by making sure we execute what we have to do.

“Because of the short turnaround between games, we haven’t had much time to focus on Chippa, so sticking to our own processes will be crucial to getting a positive result,” he continued.

The right-back has further opened up about the CAF Inter-Club competitions and how they have impacted them.

“The CAF games have been a learning experience as we have a number of players getting their first taste of continental football,” he explained.

“It has been tough, but we’ll take the results and move on with the determination to improve when the competition resumes next year.”

“Personally, it has been a good few months for me. I am so happy to be involved now and to help contribute to the team. Scoring a goal was wonderful, but I like getting assists, which I take pride in more.

“I really want to contribute even more, hopefully in the next two games before the break for the AFCON tournament,” the former Moroka Swallows man concluded.
