Chiefs skipper Petersen leads Carling All Stars XI against Pirates

Orlando Pirates and Carling All Stars XI will face each other on Saturday, December 13 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The Buccaneers secured the ticket to play in the Carling Label Cup final after winning the Carling Knockout final. The Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men beat Marumo Gallants by a solitary goal, thanks to South Africa’s versatile attacker Relebohile Mofokeng.

It was just the second time the Soweto giants were winning it since its inception in 1982. Last season, they fell to surprise package Magesi in the first stage, and Dikwena Tsa Meetse went on to beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.

However, they were beaten 2-1 by the All Stars team in the exhibition Carling Black label Cup.

Chiefs and Sundowns dominate the Carling All Stars team

Kaizer Chiefs may have failed to produce Bafan Bafana players for the forthcoming AFCON competition, but they have four alongside Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling All Styars team, as voted by the fans.

Brandon Petersen, Marcelo Allende, Mfundo Vilakazi and Arthur Sales are among the stars in the team.

Sekhukhune United, Siwelele FC and Marumo Gallants have produced a player each.

Who will coach the Carling All Stars team?

The fans had wished to have Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou in the team, but since teh Sea Robbers won the competition, the second coach with most votes had to be given that chance.

“The votes are in! A Massive congratulations to coach Manqoba Mngqithi on being chosen as the Carling Knock out Head Coach for the All-Star Team,” Arrows posted on Tuesday.

“With a whopping 20259 votes. Proud moment! Excellence speaks for itself! We wish him all the best.”

Last season, former Bucs coach Jose Riveiro was in charge as the selected team beat Magesi FC.
