Chiefs Transfer News: TS Galaxy open about South Africa star

Published on by

TS Galaxy owner Tim Sukazi is open to signing former Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa ahead of the new season.

The 28-year-old South Africa international was recently released by the Buccaneers after failing to play a single minute last season owing to injuries. However, he is now fit and in the Bafana Bafana CHAN squad that will take part in the biennial competition to be held jointly by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Lepasa played for Galaxy in the 2018/19 season and made an impact when he scored the winning goal in the Nedbank Cup final against Kaizer Chiefs, becoming the first lower division team to be crowned.

Sukazi is open to having the striker in his team ahead of the new season. The Rockets have already signed nine players ahead of the forthcoming campaign.

The Lepasa chapter is closed, unless he decides he wants to come home. The door is always open. I discovered him, and he has my number [to call me if he’s interested in joining TS Galaxy]. I’m unsure of where his and his agent’s headspace is,” he told Ikwekwezi FM.

“In situations like this, I can’t chase after him. If he wants to come home, he knows what to do. Sometimes it becomes easy for players who’ve played for Orlando Pirates to secure deals overseas. A lot of players are moving outside South Africa. Maybe he’s exploring his options,” Sukazi concluded.

Lepasa will surely want to show his worth when he turns out for Bafana Bafana in the next couple of days.
