Polokwane City coach Phuti Mohafe is hopeful his team can defeat Kaizer Chiefs if they deal well with the long balls from the Glamour Boys.
The Rise and Shine will be hosting the Glamour Boys at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday. Chiefs have played their last two Premier Soccer League games against Richards Bay and Royal AM respectively at the Peter Mokaba Stadium meaning they will still have that ‘home' feeling this weekend.
In his pre-match interview, Mohafe explained why he believes they have a chance of getting a positive result.
Chiefs like to play long balls
“They [Chiefs] play in transition and play a lot of long balls. We think it's a match that we need most because we know how to play against teams that play that way, so I think we will do better against them,” Mohafe stated.
Despite the Glamour Boys' inconsistencies that have seen them win three, lose two and draw as many in the seven PSL outings, the Polokwane City tactician is not anticipating an easy go.
“Chiefs are a serious threat because when you check, you'll see that they are also not doing that well, they are getting a win after some time.”
Mohafe concerned with a ‘serious scoring problem'
Apart from the 21 and 2-0 wins over AmaZulu and Magesi respectively, Polokwane have been struggling to get more than a goal in a match.
“We have a serious problem of not scoring. We are not scoring enough goals… it's one goal there, no goals there, so we need to get our scoring correct. If we can get that part correct, then everything will be normal again.”
Mohafe concluded with a comment on how Ndamulelo Maphangule's in the Bafana Bafana preliminary squad for their last two Afcon qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan will impact the attacker.
“For him to be included in the Bafana preliminary squad shows that he's working very hard. The inclusion has also boosted his confidence… he's so determined to continue working hard. I also like the fact that he's remained level-headed. Also, his inclusion shows that we are doing a great job as a team.”
