‘Chiefs won’t miss Mayo vs Simba, but why is Baartman sitting on the stands?’ Kaze, Ben Youssef asked

Kaizer Chiefs have been tipped to get past AS Simba and seal their place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.

The two teams played to a goalless draw in the first leg of the second preliminary round, played a week ago at the TP Mazembe Stadium. The Glamour Boys had a good game but were undone by struggles in front of the goal, where they missed some big chances to grab an away goal and probably a win.

Amakhosi legend Derrick Spencer has no doubt that the Soweto giants will win on Sunday at the Dobsonville Stadium.

The finish was disappointing, but…

On Wednesday, Chiefs – who are co-coached by Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, played to a goalless draw with Siwelele FC in the Premier Soccer League outing staged at the FNB Stadium. It was the third time in a row, across all competitions, that they have failed to hit the back of the net, and Spencer has commented on the issue.

“I don't think this team can beat us at home. Even away, we should have buried them; there were some missed opportunities,” the former defender told KickOff.

“Yes, the finishing has been disappointing. Our biggest problem is scoring goals. We should have won in Congo, but we missed a crucial opportunity with Ashley Du Preez. I think he's a bit down.

“Against Siwelele, we didn't play well, especially in the second half,” he added.

Chiefs won't miss Mayo against Simba!

“We [will] go into Sunday's game without [the injured] Khanyisa Mayo, but since he has just joined the team, I don't think he will be missed that much. We have many good strikers eager for an opportunity,” Spenser continued.

“Godspower Ighodaro looks promising up front. I also don't understand why Luke Baartman is sitting in the stands. Is that case with Cape Town Spurs still ongoing?

“And what about Ethan Chislett? Will we ever see him play? From what I hear, he is a star,” he concluded.
