Comitis’ bold statement about CT City academy following Witbooi’s trial at Chelsea

Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has expressed his delight regarding rising talent Emile Witbooi's trial at English Premier League giants Chelsea.

In early November, the 16-year-old offensive midfielder travelled to the United Kingdom for a four-week examination.

Witbooi has wowed fans with his excellent performances for Cape Town City in the DStv Diski Challenge, as well as representing South Africa's U17 and U20 teams.

Despite joining the Citizens from the School of Excellence less than a year ago, Comitis credits the club's network with facilitating Witbooi's trial.

He has also hailed the club's academy, saying it is on course to become South Africa's finest youth development program.

COMITIS SAYS CITY ACADEMY IS ‘BEST PLACE’ FOR YOUNG TALENT IN SA

“It means we are on the right track,” Comitis told FARPost.

“We’ve worked hard building the academy while creating networks and pathways to make sure Cape Town City is the best place for elite young talent in South Africa.

“It’s a beautiful opportunity for Emile to measure himself against the best footballers in the world.

“He will get more opportunities like this, as will the many other special players we have coming through the academy.”
