Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro is happy with the performance of his players at Orlando Stadium in the Premier Soccer League game against Richards Bay.
Striker Evidence Makgopa scored his fourth of the season to help the Sea Robbers secure a seventh consecutive league win which is a club record.
The win was a perfect gift for the Spaniard who has now coached the Soweto giants for 100 matches across all competitions.
However, Riveiro was not happy with the wasted chances despite his team opening a six-point lead on top of the table ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns who are the defending champions. The Bucs coach is also happy that his side kept a clean sheet.
Good organization gave Pirates maximum points
“I think it was a complete performance tonight, 1-0 is a very short result in my opinion, we managed to create good and clear chances to go to the next stages of the game with a little bit more, not relaxed but you know what I mean,” he said after the game.
“But anyway I think the game was totally under control from our side, from the beginning. It took time in the first 15, to 20 minutes as usual to find spaces against the back five and a low block. But due to the patience and the quality of the boys we managed to do it well.
“It is not by chance, it's due to good organization, and the courage of the players. Today, you saw the goal, it was a rebound, lucky enough we managed to collect the three points.”
Pirates now play Belouizdad after the international break before facing Stellenbosch in the PSL.
