Contract terminated! Chiefs-linked midfielder sent back to parent club after breach of discipline

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs are expected to bring more experienced players to the team in their bid to strengthen and deliver in the 2025/26 season.

Among the players who have been linked with a move to the Glamour Boys are Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sipho Mbule. The 27-year-old has struggled for game time at Masandawana despite his quality.

At the beginning of the season, he was sent to Sekhukhune United after the then-coach Manqoba Mngqithi felt he was surplus to requirements. Prior to his move to Babina Noko, the versatile midfielder had been heavily linked to Kaizer Chiefs alongside Bongani Zungu who had cut ties with the defending Premier Soccer League champions.

Mbule, allegedly, disrespected a technical member and also brought an unauthorized person into the camp. It was something the team couldn't tolerate as explained by club's General Manager Phineas Madisha in a recent interview on Ukhozi FM.

“We don't fire players, especially when they have contracts with us. Everybody is important in the squad, but what's important is that there's no one who is employed at the club who will be above the badge of Babina Noko,” he stated.

“At all times, whatever happens, we're not gonna be scared of whoever is employed at Babina Noko. But at the right time, once we do that, you as journalists will know what is happening at the family of Babina Noko.

“No matter who is the player or employee of Sekhukhune, if it happens that he breaks the rules at the club, that person will be taken to the structure that handles disciplinary cases,” Madisha concluded.

According to SABC Sport, the Limpopo-based team has made a decision to let the midfielder leave.

“Sekhukhune United will not pursue their interest to retain the services of midfielder Sipho Mbule, who joined the club on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns at the start of the season. Mbule is not expected to play any further role in the two remaining games for Sekhukhune against Kaizer Chiefs and Golden Arrows,” the state broadcaster confirmed.

Mbule has already missed the games against Orlando Pirates and Magesi. He is not expected to feature when Babina Noko play Kaizer Chiefs and Golden Arrows respectively in the remaining games of the season. He will now be working on sanctifying his name, hoping coach Miguel Cardoso can consider him at Sundowns. It is highly unlikely that Chiefs will show any interest for Mbule in the forthcoming transfer window.
