The 22-year-old defender has broken his silence since switching to Naturena

Newly-signed Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley believes his transfer to the Soweto giants is a reward for his hard work.

Dortley completed his move to Chiefs from relegated Cape Town Spurs and is set to boost Nasreddine Nabi’s defence in 2024-25.

The 22-year-old versatile defender has signed a three-year contract with the Soweto giants and is thrilled by the prospect of donning the gold and black jersey.

“It really, really means a lot to me,” he told iDiski Times.

“It shows that my hard work is paying off and people can see my talent and that I’m not just playing for the sake of playing.

Dortley will give Nabi a selection headache in defence

“Me putting in the hard work and doing my best in all games despite the results, despite how the team is playing, despite the circumstances, to always give your 100% because there are always people watching,” Dortley added.

The versatile defender, who can play at centre-back and at full-back, made 26 appearances for Cape Town Spurs in the PSL last season and at 22, Chiefs have a player to build a team around for a long time.

His arrival adds competition to the club’s central defence given Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Given Msimango were the most preferred partnership last season while Zitha Kwinika and Edmilson Dove Thatayaone are also angling for a starting place.
