Zwane weighs in on Msendami’s exit – Did Pirates blunder?

Orlando Pirates made a shocking decision to part ways with Daniel Msendami in the almost-concluded transfer window.

The Zambia international was loaned to his former team Marumo Gallants, a team he had left in the mid-2025/26 season. Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou brought in attacker Bheki Mabuza to add depth in the attacking department.

During his time with the Sea Robbers, Msendami made a total of 11 appearances across all competitions. In the ongoing edition, he played three matches for the Soweto giants and scored once before leaving for Bahlabane Ba Ntwa.

Was it the right decision?

Bucs legend Eugene Zwane explains why he feels the Sea Robbers were right to let the winger leave.

“You know, I think it’s also a tactical thing to say, ‘Okay, given the profile of the player and what the player is likely to do for us, maybe we are sufficiently covered in that area,’” he told FARPost.

“But he’s too valuable for the club to let him sit in the stands, so they decided to let him go somewhere where he will consistently play, and at the right time, they would bring him back. That could be one of the reasons behind the loan move.

“You know, players are not always loaned out because they don’t have any value to add to their clubs. It’s usually because of a particular area or the profile of the player; they already have several players with similar characteristics. Therefore, they loan the player out to continue playing and stay fit,” Zwane concluded.

The defending Premier Soccer League champions have signed Mthetheleli Mthiyane (Stellenbosch FC), Sbangani Zulu (Richards Bay), Bohale Ngwato (Siwelele) Ghampani Lungu (Siwelele), Neo Rapoo (Siwelele), Aphiwe Baliti (Siwelele) & Matome Mmolai (Leicesterford City), Sebastian Pedersen (Sogndal Fotball, Norway), Bheki Mabuza, and Mohau Nkota (Al-Ettifaq, Saudi – Loan).
