Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has shared insights into a conversation he had with sought-after winger Oswin Appollis regarding the player's potential move to Naturena.

Appollis, along with his Polokwane City teammate Thabang Matuludi, has been heavily linked with a move to Orlando Pirates, with reports suggesting they have already signed with the Buccaneers.

However, according to SABC Sports, Chiefs have also expressed interest in acquiring the services of the talented winger during this transfer window.

Khumalo revealed that Appollis confided in him about his desire to join a major club, though he did not explicitly mention Chiefs as his preferred destination.

Furthermore, Appollis clarified that he was not responsible for the breakdown of any previous attempts to secure a move to Chiefs.

WHAT APPOLLIS TOLD DOCTOR KHUMALO ABOUT CHIEFS

“After one Bafana Bafana game I think it was in Cape Town, Appollis was Man of the Match and I handed over the cheque,” Khumalo said on Soccerzone on SABC Sports.

“I called him to the side I wanted to know what’s really blocking him from joining Chiefs. He said ‘it’s not me coach, it’s not me legend. I don’t know why am I not able to join Chiefs’.

“And I asked him ‘What do you want” and he said ‘I want to grow’. Grow how because growth can be in different ways.

“So I asked if he wanted to grow in terms of football or what, he said ‘yes, maybe something that can be challenging’.

“Not taking anything away from Polokwane City but this is a player that at least I did hear what he had to say and I think he would be a good acquisition for Kaizer Chiefs.”
