Former Wydad Casablanca coach Rulani Mokwena is reportedly in talks with Egyptian giants Pyramids FC, according to SABC Sport.
This potential move follows a turbulent period for Mokwena, who departed Wydad Casablanca towards the end of the 2024/25 season due to inconsistent performances.
He had only joined the Moroccan club at the beginning of the campaign, having unexpectedly left Mamelodi Sundowns.
Pyramids FC recently celebrated a significant triumph, winning the CAF Champions League by defeating Mokwena's former side, Mamelodi Sundowns, in the final.
JURCIC LOOKS SET TO DEPART PYRAMIDS
Despite this continental success, the future of their current coach, Krunoslav Jurcic, is surprisingly uncertain as his contract approaches its expiration, even with an option for extension. This has seemingly prompted Pyramids to seek a new tactician.
Mokwena has been a prominent name on the coaching market, previously linked with high-profile clubs such as Orlando Pirates, Zamalek, and Al Ahly.
However, it now appears Pyramids has made him their primary target to succeed Jurcic. SABC Sport added that Pyramids officials have travelled to South Africa to directly engage in negotiations with the former Sundowns coach.

This direct approach underscores Pyramids' serious intent to secure Mokwena's services as they aim to build on their recent Champions League victory. The discussions indicate a significant shift in the coaching landscape for both Mokwena and the Egyptian club.
Mokwena recently spoke highly of Pyramids, revealing that he called it that they would win the Champions League. He stated that he felt they were the best team in the tournament.
MOKWENA – ‘PYRAMIDS WERE BEST TEAM IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE’
“I called it immediately after the group stages,” Mokwena said on Soccer Africa.
“Because I remember last season while I was still at Sundowns, we played Pyramids twice. We played them match-day three in the group stages, and we drew 0-0 at home.
“But in Cairo on match-day minus 2, I kept the players for a five-hour video session at Sundowns. And I was not even aware it was that long. But there was just so much to cover about this team.
“And this season when I saw the team developing and still the same players – Ramadan Sobi, Mayele, Hafes, Fhati, Toure in the midfield, Lamin – it’s almost the same team.
“And I think they’ve won nine out of 12 matches this season and scored 24 goals and you look at Sundowns whose only scored nine and won only three out of 12.
“And that already tells you I think they were really, really the best team in the Champions League.”
