Eredivisie side to play Chiefs & Ngezana’s FCSB in pre-season

Kaizer Chiefs are set to camp in the Netherlands for pre-season ahead of a busy 2025/26 campaign, where they will be competing domestically and internationally.

The pre-season is set to be between July 3 and 19, but the Soweto giants haven't confirmed the teams they will be playing against. Afrik-Foot understands that the Glamour Boys are currently busy engaging their targets, hoping to have them on board before they leave for Europe in the next two weeks or so.

Ahead of the tour, a top Dutch side, Utrecht, have confirmed their pre-season schedule. Surprisingly, they will play Siyabonga Ngezana's FCSB and Amakhosi. Ngezana was developed by the Soweto giants and has since become a key player for the Romanian champions.

The Eredivisie outfit will play against five different teams in their bid to work on fitness and tactics ahead of the new season.

Chiefs included in a busy pre-season schedule for Utrecht

“On July 1st, the first opponent is FCSB. A club that is probably better known as Steaua Bucharest. Kick-off against the Romanian top club is at 13:00. This is a closed practice match,” the Dutch side confirmed through their website.

“On July 1st, the game will be played behind closed doors; three days later, the doors will open. Make a note in your diary: July 5th. Then the Utrechters will play a friendly match against the Belgian Cercle Brugge. Kick-off is at 14:30 at Sportpark Elinkwijk.

“The next opponent will follow on 11 July. The most popular club in South Africa will be the opponent: Kaizer Chiefs. This match will also be played behind closed doors.

“As mentioned, the European campaign starts on July 24. A week before the start of this adventure, two more practice matches are scheduled.   On July 18, the Belgian Charleroi will be the opponent. That is the number eight of the past season for our southern neighbors. This duel is closed and starts at 16:00. A day later, on July 19, there will be another practice match against RKC Waalwijk. This will also be played behind closed doors,” they concluded.
