Ex-Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou’s destination revealed?

Kaizer Chiefs have been making changes to their squad, hoping to challenge defending champions Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns for the Premier Soccer League title.

So far, they have confirmed the arrival of Thabo Moloisane who was playing for Stellenbosch last season before leaving on a free. Another player who has been signed as a free agent is ex-Sekhukhune United shot stopper Renaldo Leaner who comes in to improve the goalkeeping department.

Amakhosi have parted ways with Aden McCarthy who was sold to Azerbaijan outfit Sabah. However, George Matlou & Happy Mashiane, and Tashreeq Morris were let go by the Soweto giants,

Coach Fernando Da Cruz is expected to have a stronger squad to ensure he also delivers in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Where is Matlou going?

“Former Kaizer Chuefs midfielder George Matlou has of this morning started training with Stellenbosch FC as he looks to map a new way in his career,” iDiski Times reported.

“The former Swallows FC midfielder arrived in the Western Cape a few days ago and is now looking to impress the Stellies technical team under the watchful eye of head coach Gavin Hunt.

“Stellenbosch are looking to boost their midfield options after losing Mthetheleli Mthiyane to Orlando Pirates and Ibraheem Jabaar on a free transfer in the current transfer window.

“Hunt views Matlou as a solid replacement as talks are still ongoing between the club and the player’s camp,” they concluded.

During four years with Amakhosi, Matlou won the Nedbank Cup with Nasreddine Nabi as the coach in the 2024/25 season.
