A former Kaizer Chiefs player has promised to ensure Bafana Bafana feel pain when they clash with Zimbabwe in a World Cup qualifier on Friday.
South Africa will begin their final phase of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with an away match against the Warriors but they will not be playing in front of a partisan crowd as Zimbabwe will host the match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Hugo Broos’ men have no margins for error as they must win the game and the next one against Rwanda on Tuesday to stay in contention for a direct ticket to the World Cup.
What is Musona plotting for South Africa?

However, a player who South Africans are very familiar with, is looking to inflict pain on Bafana Bafana as former Chiefs star Knowledge Musona has promised to do everything within his powers to ensure his Zimbabwe walk away with all three points.
“I want to deliver a convincing performance that will leave the fans happy. I have played in South Africa before and I left a great impression,” Musona told Zimbabwean outlet Soccer24.
“I’m looking forward to leaving another good impression. People know me for my performance at Kaizer Chiefs, so I want to leave a similar impression when we face South Africa on Friday.”
Bafana Bafana have zero margins for error

Musona, who played for Chiefs in two spells, first between 2009 and 2011 and then from 2013-2014, scoring 40 goals and adding 13 assists in 88 games, feels his inside knowledge on South African football can give Michael Nees’ side the edge over Broos’ men.
Zimbabwe lost 3-1 to South Africa in the corresponding fixture in June 2024 and Bafana Bafana are under even greater pressure this time as they must beat Zimbabwe and Rwanda while hoping for favours from elsewhere following their three-point deduction by FIFA last month.
Bafana Bafana moved from top position on 17 points to second on 14, same as Benin, who have a one-goal advantage over them, and now need to outscore Gernot Rohr’s team or hope that they drop points against Rwanda and Nigeria.
