Former Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus is among those who would like to see ex-team-mate Relebohile Mofokeng at Barcelona.
Mofokeng has been widely reported to have attracted the interest of scouts from the Spanish giants with the possibility of signing him for their B team.
The 20-year-old has been advised to take up the chance if it presents itself while some feel he can fit into the way Barca play and Erasmus is among those who are hoping that a deal can materialise.
“U must come see our Superstar, Please coach!!!! My people will send u videos in the comment section,” Erasmus posted on X to an account that goes by the name Hansi Flick, although it is not affiliated to the Barcelona coach.
Rele urged to grab Barcelona chance
The former Bucs striker seems to be dreaming of the day Rele will don the Barca jersey going by the way he is drumming up support for him.
Eramus joins former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye and ex-Pirates star Joseph Makhanya in openly urging the youngster to grab the chance if it presents itself.
“Those people are smart, and they do things properly when it comes to development. They have a good eye for young talent. Even when it comes to international football, Spanish football is always exciting, and I think their game can suit the boy,” Khanye told SNL24.
“In terms of technique and tactical approach, the boy’s style would suit the way Spanish football is all about. I wish that kind of a move could happen for him.”
Will the reported interest yield results?

“What I can say is that there has never been a time to say if someone is ready or not for a big move to Europe. It has to happen so that we can see if they are ready. But I think the team will make the right call for them because that’s what we wish to see for them as coaches from the development side.”
Makhanya is of the same view and wants the player to shine abroad given what he has shown in South Africa so far.
“We want to see him [Mofokeng] succeed and fulfill his dreams of playing abroad, which is something we didn’t do while playing, to play in Europe. Now I would want a player I have coached to play for a big team like Barcelona, maybe Rangers in Scotland as the rumours say,” he said.
Rele has been a revelation since his promotion to the senior team in the 2022-23 season before going on to be named Young Player of the Season at the PSL Awards last term.
He has similarly started 2024-25 in great form with four goals and seven assists in 17 games already to his name.
