In a significant return to football leadership, former Royal AM president Shawn ‘Ma’ Mkhize has been officially unveiled as the new president of Mbabane Highlanders AM Football Club.
This marks a notable new chapter for Mkhize, whose previous club, Royal Andile Mpisane FC, faced a dramatic expulsion from the Premier Soccer League.
This expulsion was a direct consequence of issues linked to Andile Mpisane's dealings with the South African Tax and Revenue Service (SARS), leading to a tumultuous period for the Durban-based side.
The crisis escalated when the club was taken over by a curator after SARS conducted raids on Mkhize's residences and seized luxury cars in connection with an alleged R40 million tax debt.
Despite Mkhize's persistent efforts to legally challenge and reverse the PSL's decision through various South African courts, those attempts ultimately proved fruitless.

Now, seemingly having moved past that challenging period, Mkhize has officially taken the reins of the eSwatini side, Mbabane Highlanders.
In a bold move, she has already begun to imprint her brand on the club, strategically changing its logo and name. By adding the distinctive ‘AM' trademark, the club is now officially known as Mbabane Highlanders AM Football Club, signaling a new era.
Mkhize was formally unveiled by the 13-time league champions in a ceremony held on Saturday, symbolizing a fresh start in a new footballing landscape.
