Sundowns lose midfielder

A foreign spot has opened up for Mamelodi Sundowns following the latest exit at the club.

Miguel Reisinho has confirmed his exit from the club on his social platform, thanking the club for the time he spent, which saw him winning the CAF Champions League with the Tshwane giants. 

Reisinho arrived around the same time as countryman Nuno Santos, but the two players had different experiences at the club. While Santos enjoyed regular game time for the club, Reisinho spent most of his time watching the club’s matches from either the bench or the stands.

The 27-year-old left footed midfielder made a total of 14 appearances for Sundowns. His departure opens the door for Sundowns to bring in a foreigner before the close of the transfer window.

Leon to miss date with Polokwane

Mamelodi Sundowns will kick off their 2026/27 domestic campaign without key striker Brayan León when they lock horns with Polokwane City FC in an MTN8 quarter-final clash on Saturday, 8 August.

The showdown between Bafana Ba Style and Rise and Shine is scheduled for a 18:00 kick-off at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.

The Brazilians head into the encounter as firm favourites, seeking to build on a continental campaign that saw them clinch the CAF Champions League title.

Masandawana will be forced to take to the pitch without the gifted Colombian frontman due to a one-match suspension carried over from the end of last season.

León picked up his fourth yellow card of the campaign during Sundowns’ final Premier Soccer League  fixture against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on 12 May 2026.
