Fiston Mayele to Kaizer Chiefs Latest Update

Pyramids and DR Congo striker Fiston Mayele has reportedly been a top target for Kaizer Chiefs during this transfer window. Here's the latest update on the situation.

Although Amakhosi have successfully acquired the talents of Gaston Sirino, Rushwin Dortley, Fiacre Ntwari, and Bongani Sam, they remain eager to enhance their options in the number nine position.

In the recent seasons, lack of goals has been one of their struggles with no striker consistently finding the back of the net.

The interest in Mayele originated while he was still with Young Africans in Tanzania, where he was under the guidance of Nasreddine Nabi, who is currently at the helm of Amakhosi.

While many might assume that Mayele's transfer to Naturena would be straightforward given his relationship with Nabi, the likelihood of such a move occurring in the near future appears slim.

Yasmin Mudele, Mayele's agent, has confirmed the interest from Chiefs in the 30-year-old forward; however, she emphasised that a transfer is improbable as the player remains under contract with Pyramids.

“He’s an exceptional player, so there’s demand everywhere, not only with Chiefs,” Mudele told FARPost.

Asked further if there was solid interest from the Soweto giants, she said: “If you say solid interest, how would I know [if there was indeed solid interest from Kaizer Chiefs]?

“We’ve received several calls, and we have Nabi there, who’s our favourite coach. However, the situation is that the player has a contract, and Pyramids are not willing to release him.

“As much as Mayele would love to play for Nabi, Nabi is one of our favourite coaches; we love him. He’s a nice person [but it’s impossible]… They worked really well together. But the reality is that he’s under contract…”
